Hot dog it’s a three day weekend!!!

September 4, 2009 // Posted in education and training, holidays, vacation and travel, work  |  No Comments

I’m sure that everyone is as excited as I am about this three day weekend.  Working retail for so long has really made me appreciate a long weekend.  When you’re the manager of a discount retail store, all three day weekends mean to you is that someone is going to call in sick and you’ll have to work ALL WEEKEND LONG!!!!  I really am glad I decided to go back to school and quit that job.

So here I am heading out to the beach for a long weekend and then hitting the books and back to class.  Man does that sound good or what?

Got it

I told my Dad that I needed a new laptop or notebook and he started researching right that second.  I guess for his money and service he thought a Dell laptop was the best.  I didn’t really care especially since I didn’t have to buy it myself.  What he got really surprised me.

He got a Dell Alienware.  It’s really a gaming computer but he didn’t have any games preinstalled because he doesn’t want me playing games instead of studying, his words not mine.  Anyway it’s not only cool looking but man does it have all of the bells and whistles I would ever need.  You got to check them out at dell.com.  They are totally awesome and be prepared that they are a bit pricey.  Check it out.

Laptop

It’s July already?

Man I swear time flies no matter is you’re having fun or not.  It’s already July and I just can’t seem to get over that.  I feel like a kid that’s been out of school for awhile and really not looking forward to going back.  Remember how that was?  Man did the summers go by fast when it was like that.  Well, I have to start thinking about what classes I’ll be taking this fall now too.

Accidental email huh?

Did you hear about the email accidentally sent to Jeff Crouse of the Anti-Advertising Agency back in September that brought the controversial techniques of the advertising firm Kluger Agency under fire?  I never heard anymore about it.  I wonder what happened?

The email read, “I’m writing because we feel you may be a good company to participate in a brand integration campaign within the actual lyrics of one of the worlds most famous recording artists upcoming song/album,” offering to place Jeff Crouse’s fake brand, Double Happiness Jeans, into the songs of popular artists. It was posted on his blog along with a reply that mocked Kluger and brought ridicule and criticism against Adam Kugler and his agency. According to Crouse, Kluger emailed him once again to claim it had been an automated email, and later requested that Crouse remove the the post and comments criticizing himself and his agency, threatening a $150,000 lawsuit against Crouse for defamation.

Say what?  These guys sent him the email and then want to sue him.  Makes sense to me, doesn’t it you?  What morons, they sent out the email and then thought about it and wished they hadn’t.  We’ve all done that before, now haven’t we.  I never offered to sue someone if they didn’t erase it though.

My friend is a machinist

April 30, 2009 // Posted in education and training, gadgets, work  |  No Comments

I have a good friend that’s a machinist and he was telling me about some of the new technology they have been told about. There’s a machine now that does hot stamping which will imprint whatever is needed into medal. If a logo is required, that’s what the hot stamping does.

A lot of these types of machines will make his work a lot easier like the hydraulic press line they offer and the press robot. A lot of people think robots are bad because they take human jobs away but these make human jobs easier. Someone has to oversee the robot to make sure it is doing what it’s supposed to do. Plus there are times they have to be reprogrammed to do something else too. These are going to make his job a lot easier. He told me to check them out at apt-usa.com. I must admit, I was impressed.
