This is not a surprise

Well I told my father that I needed to find a part-time job and would you believe that he just happened to have a part-time opening in his office. Sure he did, he created a position for me but that’s okay I guess. He’s still hoping I’ll change my mind and become a lawyer. Who knows at this point anyway. All I know is that I want to help people that have either been accused or have committed a crime to get back on their feet and into a better life. I don’t know if I can do that through becoming a lawyer or becoming a probation officer? Anyway, I have a job.
We depart today

Well today is the day that we depart San Francisco for Alaska. The cruise ship leaves port at 12 noon. We have had a great time in San Francisco and I’m looking so forward to the cruise. Dad finally told us it’s a 10 day cruise but that’s all. I’m sure once we are aboard ship, we’ll find out more. I thought that once we were ready to board ship, Dad would finally fill Mom and I in but as always, he’s being rather tight lipped. I guess that’s the lawyer in him. You never reveal your strategy or evidence until it’s time. Well, I think it’s time, don’t you?
San Francisco

Well here we are in San Francisco. Man what a beautiful town. This is the first time we have ever been here. That famous street that has been in all of those movies that is so crooked, well we went down it and it is just like you see in the movies. Duh-huh huh? Anyway it was totally awesome.
We also visited Alcatraz. I swear you could almost hear the former prisoners hollering through the halls. It was sort of scary to think that men were actually locked away in there. I guess I have too much of a tender heart but seeing that place only made me realize that being a parole officer is exactly what I want to be. I believe that there are some people that are evil but most of the people that have been incarcerated are a victim of their environment or circumstance. Dad says I look at people through rose colored glasses and maybe so but if people would just have a little more compassion for others, there might not be so many repeat offenders. That’s just my opinion right now anyway.
It’s official now

I finally did it. I quit my job and am going to sign on as a full time student online. My father has wanted me to do this for so long that he even threw out an added incentive. He told me that if I will go back to college full time in any field as long as it has something to do with law, he would pay for it and all of my expenses including my living expenses. That’s not a bad deal now is it?
We sat down last night and worked out the final details of the arrangement. Of course I have money saved from working and that will be my backup money in case my father thinks I’m spending ‘his’ money unwisely which just might happen knowing how tight he can be but that’s how he got to where he is today so I’m not complaining at all. Now I just have to find an online college that he’ll approve of. I bet he’s already checking them out.
