I’m sure that everyone is as excited as I am about this three day weekend. Working retail for so long has really made me appreciate a long weekend. When you’re the manager of a discount retail store, all three day weekends mean to you is that someone is going to call in sick and you’ll have to work ALL WEEKEND LONG!!!! I really am glad I decided to go back to school and quit that job.
So here I am heading out to the beach for a long weekend and then hitting the books and back to class. Man does that sound good or what?
I guess of all of the holidays, Independence day is one of my favorite!! I love the cook outs, the games, being outside and most of all, the fireworks!! Well the food is awfully good and I do love to eat. Besides, you get to spend time with family and friends and celebrate what a great country we live in too. So I hope you all have as great a July 4th as we have planned.
Well before you know it, summer will be here and if you haven’t planned your summer by now, like me, then you better get on the ball. There are some really great deals out there these days if you just take a little time to check the Internet. I guess people still aren’t traveling like the usually do since the prices for places like Disney World and even cruises seem to keep going lower and lower. That doesn’t mean it all won’t change when vacation time hits. That’s why I’m surfing the net to find the perfect summer vacation. I love Colorado so I think I’ll check into something out there where I can go hiking and just be one with nature.
With all of the Valentines stuff out already, I am so darn sick of hearing those darn stuffed animals that sing “Hunk of burning love” and any of the other songs they dance and sing to. If I could, I would take the batteries out of them but then my district manager would come in and realize what I had done and it would be my rear.
One things for sure, I wouldn’t buy my girlfriend a noisy stuffed animal if she asked for one. I tell you what I did find. I found a great web site that I have already ordered her some absolutely beautiful flowers from. They will make sure she gets them on February 14th. I ordered her a live orchid plant that is the most beautiful flower I have ever seen.
I thought I should go ahead and order them because knowing me and my pea brain, I would not realize that Valentines Day was almost here and then I’d be stuck getting her one of those darn stuffed animals and a box of candy. Now aren’t these better than a noisy stuffed animal and a box of candy?
That’s one of the things I hate about working retail. You no sooner get one holiday over and they’re having you put out the next upcoming holiday. We have Christmas stuff marked down 50% to 75% on one isle and Valentines stuff on the isle across from it. It sure makes all of the holidays run together for me.
Now I have to put up the dancing devil that every kid that walks by has to push the button and I have to hear that goofy song over and over and over. I try to keep things like that out of reach of kids but there’s always a tall one that will put it down so the little ones can make them play. By Valentines Day, I hate those things. So if anyone wants to get me something for Valentines Day, make sure if doesn’t make any noise.
It’s things like that which make me think twice about what I’m doing. I just might have to do the grown-up thing and go back to school and get another job………..but not as a lawyer! Me in a suit, I don’t think so.
