My friend is a machinist

April 30, 2009 // Posted in education and training, gadgets, work  |  No Comments

I have a good friend that’s a machinist and he was telling me about some of the new technology they have been told about. There’s a machine now that does hot stamping which will imprint whatever is needed into medal. If a logo is required, that’s what the hot stamping does.

A lot of these types of machines will make his work a lot easier like the hydraulic press line they offer and the press robot. A lot of people think robots are bad because they take human jobs away but these make human jobs easier. Someone has to oversee the robot to make sure it is doing what it’s supposed to do. Plus there are times they have to be reprogrammed to do something else too. These are going to make his job a lot easier. He told me to check them out at apt-usa.com. I must admit, I was impressed.

Ever had one of THOSE days

Have you ever had one of those days when you should have stayed in bed?  Better yet, you should have stayed in the bathroom because it was going to be a crappy day??  Well that’s what my whole week has been.  I’ve had one crappy day after another and I don’t know why.

I’m not mad at my father, well not much anyway.  My girlfriend isn’t driving me nuts, just a bit crazy from time to time.  I feel pretty good, when I don’t think about how bad I really feel so I just don’t understand what the problem is.   I just figured it out.  It’s life!!  You know what I mean?  Life just sort of gets to you from time to time and there’s nothing you can do about it except for wait until another day and hope the suns shining and someone says something that makes you smile and then it’s time for a better day.  Maybe tomorrow is that day.

Best Bud became a Daddy today

I have never known my Best Bud to shed a tear at all but he sure did today.  When his new son was born, the man walked out of the room, white as a sheet mind you but with some of the biggest tears in his eyes I have ever seen.  This is a big old burly man too.  I honestly was so darn proud of him I almost shed a tear too.

Children are what make your life worth living.  Children are what make you immortal too and there in this beautiful woman’s arms laid the most perfect, little boy ever with his Mother and Father both beaming at the wonder of this perfect child.  I felt honored to be a part of all of this.  Now I just can’t wait to find the right woman, get married and have one of those myself.  Guess I’ll just have to be “Uncle Justin”, spoil him rotten and send him home.  That will work, that will work just fine.

I watched Dancing with the stars

Can you believe that? Well my girlfriend is always talking about the show and was telling me that there’s a 6 time world champion cowboy on this season and he’s doing pretty darn good. She asked me to just watch the show this one time and if I totally hated it, I didn’t ever have to watch it with her again.

Well to my surprise, it was pretty cool. I love the girls costumes of course but how in the world some of those guys move like they do is beyond me. Ty, the cowboy was pretty darn cool. I have to hand it to him, he’s giving it his all and though he may not be the best male dancing star on the show, you got admire his dedication and determination to do well. It will be interesting just how far he will go but I’ll let her tell me that. I must admit those professional dancers have to be in good shape to do some of the things they do too.

Parents going to Europe

April 9, 2009 // Posted in family and friends, gadgets, home improvement, legal  |  No Comments

My parents have decided to take a long time coming, trip to Europe. They’re going to England and Ireland which they have talked about since I can remember. Well Dad is one of those old fashioned guys that won’t see of having a cell phone. I think it’s to keep the office from bugging him all of the time. I told him he needed to at least get some calling cards so they could keep in touch with the rest of us and let us know they’re okay.

I went ahead and got them some at getmecallingcards.com because he’s about as hard headed as my sister and I figured he wouldn’t get any. I told him it’s a lot cheaper to use them than to call collect or have to put all that change in a pay phone. Besides, they’ll work anywhere they’re going and a cell phone might not so in that case, calling cards are better.
